A landing page that loads in under a second, states the value proposition in five seconds, and converts visitors to one action.
Recommended stack
- Astro - framework. Zero JS by default; islands only where interaction demands it.
- Tailwind CSS - styling. Consistent spacing/type scale without a design review per div.
- Vercel - hosting. Edge-served static HTML with preview URLs for copy review.
- Plausible (or none) - analytics. One privacy-respecting script - or none until you have traffic to learn from.
Build steps
- Write copy first in a doc: headline (outcome, not feature), subhead, three proof points, one CTA.
- Build sections: hero, social proof, how-it-works (3 steps), pricing or CTA, FAQ.
- One CTA repeated, same verb everywhere; remove every competing link above the fold.
- Add OG image, meta description, JSON-LD, and a sitemap - sharing and search are the channels.
- Test on a real phone over 4G; fix anything that shifts layout while loading.
Watch out for
- Carousel/animation budget spent before the headline is right.
- Three CTAs splitting one intent.
- Hero images that push CLS - reserve dimensions for everything.
Definition of done
- Lighthouse 100/100/100/100 on mobile
- A stranger can say what the product does after 5 seconds
- The page has exactly one conversion action and it's measurable
